Dear All,

We unfortunately must cancel late registrations because the number of current registrations is enough to maintain some quality of the summer school: The registrations after May 15, are not possible.

If you want to register, please do it before that date (some places are still available)

We kindly ask the students who registred for free, but for any reason they will not attend the summser school, to let us know as soon as they can so that someone else can take their place.

Thank you for your understanding

Context and objectives:

Large-scale data analysis is an inherently multidisciplinary area and is becoming increasingly important in the today's society where we are confronted with the "Big Data" phenomenon, which are data on a large-scale in terms of dimension, volume, and complexity. The Research Summer School on Statistics for Data Science (S4D) is a multidisciplinary international summer school at the interface of several disciplines: statistics, computer science (machine learning), optimization and signal processing, with a focus on probabilistic/statistical formulations of recent methodologies dedicated to the problem of learning from large-scale complex data.

It will involve, during 5 days, for an audience of PhD students, engineers, postdocs and scientists, several international pioneering scientists in modern statistics, machine learning and artificial intelligence to present their expertise on both theoretical and technical aspects of models and algorithms to address data science problems with a focus on large-scale/high-dimensional scenarios.

The objectives of the talks are to:

  • present the basic developments of models for phd students and practitioners to understand the basics of the domain;
  • highlight for students, scientists and practitioners the major scientific issues necessary for the development of such models and on the related theoretical and computational problems;
  • present and analyze the latest theoretical advances in modeling and practical considerations regarding statistical learning, classification, representation, of large-scale raw data, in various application area

Registration fees:

!! Free registration for Msc and PhD students !!

We offer attractive registration formulas! The registration fees simply serve to cover in part the fees (cocktails, coffee breaks, lunches, dinners in nice French restaurants, guided visits (e.g to Mont St Michel, WW2 Landing beaches, etc), the rest is covered from our internal projects and some funding from sponsors . This doesn't include the accommodation where people are invited to book by themselves; we provide a list of closest hotels to the place of the school and would be happy to help if needed).

If however you wish to only attend the courses of the summer school, this is possible and its free if you are a student (PhD,Msc) or you only pay the symbolic amount of 50 € othrewise. This includes coffee breaks and cocktails.

Before May 15, 2018:

  • " I am a student and I wish to only attend the courses (this includes coffee breaks and cocktails) ": free
  • " I wish to only attend the courses (this includes coffee breaks and cocktails) ": 50€
  • " All inclusive (except accommodation) for PhD Student/Postdoc ": 300€
  • " All inclusive (except accommodation) for Academic (permanent scientist) ": 350€
  • " All inclusive (except accommodation) for Industrial (engineer, scientist, etc) ": 390€
  • " Accompagnying person " (partner or family member. For the others, full registration is required): 160€

From May 16, to June, 10, 2018:

  • " I am a student and I wish to only attend the courses (this includes coffee breaks and cocktails) ": free
  • " I wish to only attend the courses (this includes coffee breaks and cocktails) ": 100€
  • " All inclusive (except accommodation) for PhD Student/Postdoc ": 350€
  • " All inclusive (except accommodation) for Academic (permanent scientist) ": 400€

  • " Accompagnying person" (partner or family member. For the others, full registration is required): 210€

PhD Students' contributions:

We are also pleased to inform you that PhD students' contributions are possible and we kindly invite interested people to submit their contributions. The accepted papers will be presented during the school (oral or poster presentations).

The proceedings will be published online.

Official attendance letters:

The attendees will get an official letter from the president of the organizing committee which allows them to earn credits and validate the courses as part of their Master or PhD program.

We are looking forward to seeing you in the nice city of Caen!
